Valuation requires a detailed first hand examination of the piece itself.
We value jewellery as well as set and loose stones.
Items insured while they are in our care.
Gemstones are examined according to recognised gemmological criteria. For more complex examinations we collaborate with independent laboratories.
Needle touch tests are used to establish the purity of precious metals.
The weight, clarity, colour and dimensions of set stones are estimated or calculated as precisely as possible, with estimates always being identified as such.
State-of-the-art Sarin technology is used to measure loose diamonds.
We base our appraisals on daily trading information, fairs, auction results and discernible supply and demand trends.
Jewellery is appraised according to objective criteria and sentimental value is not taken into consideration.
Unless otherwise indicated, our appraisals apply to the value of the jewellery on the Swiss market at the time of the valuation.
Our valuations include information on the current gold and/or platinum prices and the strength of the US Dollar.
We provide valuations in German, French, Italian and English.
All jewellery and gemstones are appraised by at least two qualified gemmologists (F.G.A., G.G.). All our experts are active members of the Swiss Gemmological Society and have detailed and up to date experience of the jewellery and gem trade.
We are not obliged to buy or replace items brought to us for valuation.
